Tim McGill

Tim McGill is a member of the WGN TV Weather Center team that provides CLTV it's 24 hour weather on the 1's.

Tim is the weather director at CLTV and has been with the station since their debut in 1993.

Tim is the first meteorologist in Chicago to earn the American Meteorological Society's Certified Broadcast Meteorologist designation. To earn the CBM, broadcasters must hold a degree in meteorology or equivalent from an accredited college or university, pass a rigorous written examination, and have their on-air work reviewed to assess technical competence, informational value, explanatory value, and communication skills.

In addition to the initial educational and test requirements, CBMs have to earn professional development points in order to maintain their certification. These points can be earned by attending scientific seminars or meetings and similar activities.

His work on a CLTV tornado special titled, "Season of Fear", earned him an Emmy.

Tim is a Chicago area native originally from Schaumburg. He is a 24-year broadcasting veteran with previous stints at WHSV-TV in Harrisonburg, Virginia and WCTI-TV in New Bern, North Carolina. He also worked briefly for the National Weather Service in Romeoville. Tim attended the University of Illinois and received his degree in Meteorology from Northern Illinois University.

He also stays busy teaching weather at the School of the Art Institute in Chicago and Columbia College. He is married with four children.
