Corporate mascots
Though under fire for using Ronald McDonald to market its food to children for more than 50 years, McDonald's is certainly not alone in using a corporate mascot to connect with both child and adult customers. Here are some mascots you'll remember, along with a few things you probably never knew about them.

Ronald McDonald
Official name: Ronald McDonald
Created: 1963 Parent company: McDonald Corp. Known for: Red hair, white face, yellow jumpsuit and big red shoes. Pals: In the once-popular McDonaldland, Ronald used to hang out with Mayor McCheese, the Hamburglar, Grimace, Birdie the Early Bird, and The Fry Kids. You might not know: Given the official corporate title of "Chief Happiness Officer" in 2003. Many people work full-time in costume visiting hospitals, schools and other events. Weatherman Willard Scott was the first to portray Ronald McDonald, with a food tray box on a his head and a cup on his nose. |
