That back-to-back-to-back-to-back home run game? I was here. That epic All-Star game where the AL finally won, seemingly days after it all began? Nailed it. Makeup game with the Tigers? Did it. The blackout of the Twins? I taught Jim Thome how to swing the bat.

If not a share, at least have them pay for my new White Sox shirt. AND, unlike others, I would at least take the bat off my shoulder late in the game.

Welcome the the blackout, part deux. It's win-or-go-home time, unless the Sox want to join that other Chicago baseball team for a blowout Columbus Day party.

So break out your Toby Hall goggles and let's get ready for some baseball. Ozzie wants the field to be wet today to slow down the Rays' speedsters. Oops, we forgot to turn off the sprinkles. Oops. Oops.

And he might get some help from some big rain clouds over the Cell. No BP for the Rays today because of early sprinkles. Oops, we forgot to make it not rain today. Oops. Oops.

Gavin Floyd was supposed to start today but he's got the wrong pitching hand, per Ozzie. So the lefty John Danks, he who put the Sox in the playoffs, will toe the slab today. Tampa Bay was 25-24 vs. lefties this season.

The lineups are here: AJ moves up in order while DeWise slides down.

No catwalks here folks, so let's belt some home runs balls. Because that's just how we roll in Chicago.

Comment board is below. My email is here. Are you wearing black?

Baseball soon. Strap it down and listen to some AC/DC.

OK, maybe not soon but in the future. The tarp is on and we are in delay-mode. Again. It's groundhog day in the cubicle.

Update at 3:08: Tarp is coming off and TBS says we're about 30 minutes away from the first pitch. Phillies just beat the Brewers in their series and will now play the Dodgers.

Matt Garza used to be on Twins too? Tampa Bay is like Minnesota-south, complete with an annoying dome. Ugh.

I'm still not happy with Carlos Quentin, who TBS just showed in the dugout. Sigh. Tarp is off, Rays manager stands at home plate and we should be ready fairly soon.

Dan and Harold are your TBS dudes again. Harold: Sox have not hit for power or produced timely hitting. Yes. This is true. Dan: They are pumped and jacked in Chicago. Yes, again true. Let's rock and roll.

Marc Fein, TBS weatherman/sideline guru, tells us that there isn't another rain storm expected today. So that's good news. 58 degrees at the Cell. White towels a wavin' from the fans. Roger Bossard = groundskeeper extrodanaire.

FIRST INNING

No swimming pools, sorry Ozzie. But lotsa new sprinkled dirt that should stick in the Rays' cleats. First pitch from Danks to Akinori Iwamura is a 91 mph fastball for a strike. The lights are on. Slaps the next pitch to center for leadoff single. Ball one outside to BJ Upton (9 HRs this season). Foul, called strike and a swinging strike for the...strikeout! One down. Carlos Pena now, who didn't play the whole of Game 1 and all of Game 2 with blurry vision. TBS' Fein also had a scratched eye, per Harold. Good to know. Ball one to Pena. Ball two in the dirt. Pena grounds it past Konerko at first and that's a single. Dye hurls it back but there are runners on the corners. Ball one to Eva(n) Longoria. After a ball, Eva bloops it to shallow right, where Dye gets on his horse for the catch. Quickly throws it back to Konerko to keep Iwamura at third. Way to go JD. Carl Crawford now with two outs. Checks his swing and taps it right back to Danks, who throws to Paulie for out No. 3.

Nothing doing.
