Okay, so Dick Jauron coming back with Shelton, Chris Villarrial (out indefinitely) and Mike Gandy doesn't quite stir the same emotion from Bears fans that "that player" stirs among Philadelphians. What was your favorite lead block by Shelton? How betrayed did you feel when Villarrial rolled Olin Kreutz under the bus and blamed him for okay, that didn't really happen. I tried.
The last time these two teams faced, it was the second in a three-part series of the 2002 Bears showing why 2001 was a fluke. For all three parts, check out the game before and the game after that last Bears-Bills game in our archive.
Pretty much everyone is picking the Bears, both on the Web and . The recurring theme seems to be that the Bears' defensive line will have their way against a Bills offensive line made up of a couple of former Bears and a collection of other guys of whom I'm sure their mothers have heard.

Ditka starts by saying that not only are the Bears dominant on offense and defense, but their special teams are among the finest in the league (a true statement) and yes, the Bears are the best team in the NFC. Michael Irvin chimes in and says no, it's as he's said all season, it's Dallas.
Irvin: When TO gets his legs under him I watched what Steve Smith did to [the Bears] last year, what do you think T.O. is gonna do to them?
Ditka: All wide receivers are delusional. By the time Tommie Harris gets done with Drew Bledsoe, he won't know where he is.
Irvin: The Cowboys will double Tommie Harris, and then what?
Ditka: Then Tank Johnson will get him. You're saying the best team in the NFC is the team that's gonna lose to Philadelphia today?

FIRST QUARTER
Terrence McGee takes the kick inside the 10 and returns it to around the 25. Jim Nantz and Phil Simms on the call as the Bears garner A-team coverage. McGahee (not to be confused with McGee) gets three, then two, then Losman gets some time and hits Lee Evans at midfield for a first down. Good throw, good catch, if Losman threw it anywhere but low and to the ground, Evans gets nailed by Danieal Manning and Charles Tillman. Bears encroach and the Bills are in Bears territory, 1st and 5. Losman to Evans again, right to the sticks and they're measuring. It's short an inch. Losman goes deep to Evans, but it's too deep and out of the back of the end zone. Charles Tillman was step-for-step with Evans. The Bills run up the middle and get stood up, 4th and a complete yard now. This just in: Adewale Ogunleye and Ian Scott are both inactive today. Bills go for it. The crowd's week-long anticipation of Shelton's return got to him, and he false starts to make it 4th and 6 and the Bills will punt to Devin Hester. The Bills were going to fake it, and punter Brian Moorman starts to run with it before he has it, Brendon Ayanbadejo picks it up, Bears have 1st and 10 at the Bills' 40.
Now 2nd and 3 at the Bills' 33 as Grossman hits Berrian on the left side for seven. Thomas Jones gets the first down plus about one. First down check-down to Jones but he collides with the ref, incomplete. Jones gets five. On that fake punt, Phil Simms points out the Bills had a lane sealed off and enough room for Moorman to get six yards. Bills Grossman sails a throw to Rashied Davis and gets almost picked off by two different guys. Robbie Gould on for a 42-yarder and he's 14-for-14 on the year.
Bears 3, Bills 0, 9:07 left in the 1st quarter
Kickoff again gets dropped at the 25. As Losman passes to Evans again, this time for seven yards to the left side, Nantz points out that the Bears' offense has given up as many touchdowns as the defense. McGahee gets a yard. NM Bears fan, I feel your pain. When I was living in Ohio for the 2001 season, I was all fired up to watch the Bears-Packers game, but it was blacked out so CBS could bring me Browns-Bengals. Remember, this is when Carson Palmer was still in college, so Browns-Bengals was just about as bad as it got. Urlacher tips a Losman pass and Vasher almost picks it off. Hester learns from and lets the punt go over his head for a touchback.
Chicagofan, as many unique names as the Bears have, they still don't have Seattle's Lofa Tatupu or Buffalo's Ashton "Don't Call Me Kutcher" Youboty. Grossman tries to hit Muhammad on the sidelines but it was a little too far for him, and he comes down out of bounds. Grossman tries to hit Berrian for a first down, Berrian drops it, but he was grabbed before the ball got there, first down on pass interference. Play fake and Grossman finds John Gilmore underneath for seven yards. Jones gets a couple, 3rd and 1 just shy of midfield. They play-fake a sweep left, Grossman rolls out right and hits Desmond Clark, who gets 12 yards down to the Bills' 40. Jones gets five to the left side on first down. Pitch left to Jones gets 10. Followed his blocks well then cut back to get the last three yards. Grossman goes for Berrian inside the 10, it goes off his hands and almost into the hands of Nate Clements, but it falls incomplete. Quick slant to Berrian and he can't hold on to it. He's been a little stone-handed today. Well-disguised delay blitz by Buffalo, Grossman hit as he throws to Muhammad, who gets the pass batted away on a great play by McGee. Gould nails the 43-yarder.
Bears 6, Bills 0, 3:43 left in the 1st quarter
Gould's kick bounces at the goal line and McGee fields it for a touchback. McGahee gets six. False start makes it 2nd and 9, then Peerless Price gets whatever greased gloves Berrian's had so far and drops a pass for a sure first down. The linemen run a nice stunt that gets Losman on the move and Alex Brown brings him down for a seven-yard loss. Moorman's punt goes to the 30 (57 yards) and Hester returns it to the Bills' 49 for a 21-yard return. He's doing okay so far.
Whoever it was on the board complaining about Jones' stutter-stepping gets his/her wish, as Jones just bulls forward through a hole created by John Tait and gets 11. Then he does a stutter-step that creates the ability to bull forward, and gets eight more, 2nd and 1 from the 30. Bills jump offside to give the Bears a first down, then Jones gets seven as the quarter ends.
