CLTV Reporter and Anchor, Gaynor Hall, shares thoughts on her mini-series, Deadly Lessons, on Garrard McClendon Live. Gaynor explores the violence in Englewood by speaking directly with residents from the southside community. Ceasefire activist, Tio Hardeman, joins the conversation. Series airs on Friday, November 28th and Saturday, November 29th.

What are your thoughts on ending violence in Englewood?

Garrard says it's official. Racism has left the shores of the United States. There are no racists here anymore. Everyone is free and we have no need to tell ethnic jokes...well we can tell them now without feeling fearful, inhibited, and racist. Well, that kind of defeats the purpose.

When you leave your house today, pay close attention - taking note that hate groups have disbanded, institutional racism is passe', and people are getting hired today based on their qualifications, not their skin color. We are free today - No Chinese internment camps, no holocaust, no slavery, no native American eradication. We are free because Garrard says so, ...and because Obama is president - elect. Mary Mitchell joins me later for a conversation on racism and it's disappearance.

Are you hungry? What are your favorite holiday foods? I love a slow cooked, glazed ham, with macaroni and cheese, turkey and dressing! Diets are totally forgotten when holiday season kicks in and I want to know, what are your favorites?

Should Dick Durbin write the letter to George Bush, to pardon former Governor George Ryan? No. I think that Governor Ryan should spend a little bit more time in federal prison for the scandalous crimes perpetrated against everyday people. Sixteen counts of racketeering conspiracy, fraud, and lying under oath...well, I do feel for his family, however, individuals with less offensive crimes are doing far more time.

In the spirit of Bush leaving, and the holidays approaching, I have a soft heart. But Dick Durbin feels more for Ryan than I do. Federal prison can't be all bad...it's a great place to reflect and write a book. If no pardon is in sight for George Ryan, I'll buy the book after he's released.
