Jake
Jake is a gorgeous, healthy, friendly, snuggly and kissable, golden-eyed, two-year-old, brown tabby cat looking for a new loving home.
Jake purrs as soon as you pet him. A cat-lover in Chicago caught him in a feral trap and had him neutered. She thought he was a wild cat, but when she went to let him back outside after his surgery Jake rolled on his back and began to purrrrrrr.
So, she brought him back inside to find him a wonderful new home. Jake is a happy lap cat. He's content to be a snuggle bug, rolling over for belly rubs and lots of love.
Many people have asked me why some of the cats - like Jake - featured in my e-mails have the tips of their ears cut off. Ear tipping is a method of identifying sterilized feral cats. It's all part of the trap-neuter-return (TNR) movement which has helped save the lives of so many cats in Chicago and across the country.
The problem is that sometimes you catch a cat and don't know it's friendly until following the surgery and by then it's too late to glue the ear tip back on. But, it's a small price to pay when saving so many other cat's lives.
I think some people take advantage of feral programs to get friendly cats and kittens neutered and spayed for a lower cost and quicker - as many low cost clinics offer special feral packages with no long waits for appointments.
Jake may have the tip of his ear missing, but he is an extremely handsome doll or a cat, very healthy, neutered, and up-to-date on rabies and distemper vaccines.
Jake has tested positive for the fiv virus which is not a big deal. The fiv virus is transferred to other cats through deep bite wounds and sterilized cats typically don't fight.
To meet and possibly adopt Jake, please contact his foster mom Alicia at aliciaobando@sbcglobal.net or 773-430-2812.
His adoption fee of $50 supports rescued pets.
