For the first time since 1955, the city will have one large tree in Daley Plaza, instead of several small ones.
City officials say having one tree will save money and manpower. Last year's tree, was made up of more than 100 balsam firs.
This year's single Blue Spruce was donated by a family in Palos Hills. It will be decorated with about 7,000 energy saving LED lights.
This year's tree lighting ceremony will take place November 25th at 4 pm.
Chicago's own and Second City Alumni, Bonnie Hunt will do the tree lighting honors.
