CHICAGO -
A 16-year-old boy was found shot to death in a parked car Sunday night in the Lawndale neighborhood on Chicago's West Side.
At about 11:30 p.m. Sunday, police responded to a report of shots fired in the 1500 block of South Christiana Avenue, said Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro. When they arrived, police found three gunshot victims.
All three victims were sitting in the parked car when an dark-colored vehicle pulled up to the car and opened fire, Alfaro said.
Sherrell Williamson, 16, of the 3700 block of South Indiana Avenue, was pronounced dead at 2:30 a.m. at the Stein Institute, according to a spokesman for the Cook County medical examiner's office. Police said he had been shot in the head and was found unresponsive.
Chicago Public Schools spokeswoman Monique Bond this morning confirmed that Williamson was in 10th grade at Phillips Academy High School, 244 E. Pershing Rd.
Another victim, a 20-year-old man, also was found sitting in the same parked car with gunshot wounds to the right side of Williamson, Alfaro said. He was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital in serious-to-critical condition.
The third victim was an 18-year-old male and found near 15th Street and Kedzie Avenue. He had been shot in the same parked car, but it was not clear how he got away from the scene, Alfaro said. He suffered gunshot wounds to his back and also was taken to Mt. Sinai in serious-to-critical condition.
No suspects are in custody, Alfaro said. Police are investigating.
