From the archives of the Fort Lauderdale Daily News: 'Broward Rides Through Storm Little Damaged; Check of County Fails to Reveal Serious Hurt From Monday Blow'

Escaping the brunt of a tropical storm which whipped inland yesterday afternoon at a point near Matecumba Key between Miami and Key West, Broward County escaped with only slight damage and this morning under overcast skies began taking down storm shutters which appeared on windows and doors within an almost miraculously short time following receipt here of a hurricane warning.
