1. Reader Q&A: Mark Gonzales' White Sox mailbag

Ken Williams has the enviable position of seemingly being the only Chicago executive immune from the pressure to win and perform. In recent years we have seen all the Chicago franchises clean house. The Chairman needs to pocket his loyalty and let Williams go and bring in a new philosophy. I don't mean elevating Rick Hahn, either. There is a reason Hahn is still with the Sox. Frankly, I'm tired of hearing how wonderful is everyone in the Sox's organization. The chamber of commerce pitch delivered by those such as Hawk Harrelson and Steve Stone and others is insulting to knowledgeable fans. How many more years do Sox fans have to tolerate more of the same? How many more years does Williams get? -- Mike Major; Granger, Ind.

  3. White Sox's rotation must make up for loss of Buehrle

GLENDALE, Ariz. — As the White Sox embark on life without manager Ozzie Guillen during their first workout for pitchers and catchers, a lingering question will be how the team copes without at least 10 victories, 30 starts and 200 innings for 11 consecutive seasons from Mark Buehrle.

  7. Under Duquette, Orioles will search far and wide for talent

Fred Ferreira learned back in the mid-80s to never leave any corner of the baseball world unscouted. Talent is everywhere, and when Ferreira was a scout for the Yankees in 1985, it was on the tiny untapped island of Curacao.

  13. MLB whispers: White Sox could outbid Cubs for Soler

While the Cubs remain front-runners to sign Jorge Soler, the White Sox might spend even more heavily to make that deal happen. They have few projectable run-producers coming behind Dayan Viciedo and positioned themselves to make a deal happen by trading Carlos Quentin and Jason Frasor while allowing Mark Buehrle and Juan Pierre to leave via free agency. …
