Considered the greatest quarterback to date from the University of Central Florida. Daunte Culpepper was the first first round draft pick and pro bowl player for the Knights (then, the Golden Knights).

The Ocala native, born January 28, 1977, was the 11th overall pick from the 1999 NFL draft by the Minnesota Vikings. Raised as the last of 17 adopted children by Emma "Dolly" Culpepper, he grew up in a poor section of Ocala called Tucker Hill. Emma died in 2007 at 92. Daunte attended Vanguard High School where he lettered in football, baseball, basketball and powerlifting.

Several universities passed on Culpepper because of poor grades, but UCF offered him a scholarship were he played under Gene McDowell and Mike Kruczek, who also had coaching stints with Florida State and the Arizona Cardinals. Culpepper became only the third athlete in NCAA history to finish his career with over 10,000 passing yards and 1,000 rushing yards. Alcorn State alum Steve McNair and Idaho's Doug Nussmeier also did so.

The 6-4, 265 lb. quarterback completed seven seasons with the Vikings, working with pro-bowl receiver Randy Moss. He led the team to its second playoff appearance in 2004, earned his third Pro Bowl appearance and had his best statistical season including a team record 39 touchdowns. He experienced a career low the following season and suffered a devastating knee injury, tearing three major ligaments, during an Oct. 30, 2005 loss to the Carolina Panthers.

Culpepper was traded to the Miami Dolphins in 2006 where he experienced a rocky relationship with then-coach Nick Saban. He spent the majority of the season on injury reserve rehabbing his knee and shoulder injury. On July 31, 2007, he was signed to the Oakland Raiders as a free agent and entered his ninth NFL season.

  7. Which team will Peyton Manning be playing for next season?

Peyton Manning will not be a member of the Indianapolis Colts -- the team for which he started 227 games in a row, winning a Super Bowl title and four league MVPs along the way -- next season. 9. Ravens' Rice, Suggs in running for 'Madden' cover – for better or worse

It’s time for EA Sports to start its search for its next “Madden NFL” cover boy, and for a third straight year, the video game company is turning to football fans to decide who will be showcased on the box of the next installment of the popular franchise. EA Sports is doing a bracket-style fan vote to whittle down the field from 64 of the NFL’s top players to one (unlucky?) cover boy.
